The use of solar energy to meet life needs in the 21st century is a pressing issue not only for corporations but also for the population. Now the use of solar panels to produce environmental electricity attracts many people with its availability, autonomy, inexhaustibility, and minimal investment. Now, these phenomena are so familiar and ordinary that has long been firmly established in our everyday life.
This source of electricity is used for lighting, operation of household electrical appliances and heating. Street lights on solar panels are used everywhere in the city, in suburban areas and territories of country cottages.
The principle of operation of the solar battery
The device is designed for direct conversion of the sun’s rays into electricity. This action is called the photoelectric effect. Semiconductors (silicon wafers), which are used for the manufacture of elements, have positive and negative charged electrons and consist of two layers of n-layer (-) and p-layer (+).
Excess electrons under the influence of sunlight are knocked out of the layers and occupy empty spaces in the other layer. This causes the free electrons to constantly move, moving from one plate to another producing electricity that accumulates in the battery.
Installation of solar panels
If the structures are to be used for the electrical supply of living spaces, the installation location should be chosen carefully. If the panels are blocked by tall buildings or trees, it will be difficult to get the necessary energy. They should be placed where the flow of sunlight is maximum, that is, on the south side. The design is better to install at an angle equal to the latitude of the location of the system.
Solar panels shouldn’t be placed in such a way that the host is able to periodically clean the surface of dust and dirt or snow, as this leads to a lower power generation capacity.
