Generate free electricity yourself: What options are there?
It may be assumed that many of the millions of European citizens who in recent years have bought solar roof systems, geothermal probes or micro-chp systems to produce free electricity. According to surveys, the rising energy prices of the basic provider, others the desire for a completely self-sufficient life. The latter – this is already betrayed – is theoretically possible for a single household, but technically and economically highly sophisticated.

The majority of households that generate their own electricity do not use the energy for themselves, but feed it into the local power grid and collect the feed-in tariff for each kilowatt-hour fed. The rates are guaranteed under the Renewable Energy Sources Act approximately for photovoltaic systems for 20 years from connection. That should not change for the time being.
The most common solution of those who generate their own electricity is the installation of a photovoltaic system (PV system). This includes the solar panels on the roof and an inverter that converts the DC electricity produced into domestic and commercial AC power. Those who are not directly dependent on the yield from the feed-in tariff – currently around 15 cents per kilowatt-hour fed in small roof systems with 10 kilowatt peak (kWp) line – can keep the electricity in the house. According to less expensive household electricity (currently around 25 cents) he has to shop. One solution is to feed a heat pump with the currently unused power from the PV system. The energy is taken from the outside air or the ground and distributed in the house, for example as heating, hot water or even cold.
