Where’s the difference?
Today, as freelectricity.net, we will take a look at the difference between the energy conservation and energy efficiency. In political discussions, the terms “energy efficiency” and “energy saving” are often used synonymously. The impression is given that energy efficiency is regularly equated with energy savings – and vice versa. Our energy conservation themed article goes ahead from below.
Energy efficiency and energy conservation matters
Effort and benefits- Energy conservation
Energy efficiency describes the relationship between the effort, in this case the energy used, and the benefits thus obtained. The lower the effort for the consistent benefit, the more efficient the measure.
This should be distinguished from the effectiveness in the sense of effectiveness of a measure for the achievement of objectives. The Law on Energy Services and other Energy Efficiency Measures defines the term energy efficiency in law as “the ratio of yield to output, services, goods or energy to energy use”.
Example: The function of a dishwasher is the cleaning of plates, pots and cutlery of leftovers. The user has a clear expectation of the effect that will be met when the dishes are clean.
Dishwashers can achieve cleaning success with higher or lower use of electricity. In the latter case, the device is more efficient. If this appliance does not completely clean the dishes, the desired effect will not be achieved.

Waiver or substitution – Energy conservation
In contrast, the term energy conservation has to be delimited. According to a working definition of an institute, energy saving is possible through the partial or complete waiver or substitution of the use or use of energy-relevant products or services. In the above example, the energy saving could be achieved by dispensing with the dishwasher or substituting a dishwasher with an equally effective, more efficient appliance.

Conclusion – Energy conservation
In summary, the key difference between energy saving and energy efficiency is that the increase in final energy efficiency is considered to be a subset of the energy saving opportunities. Energy efficiency, in contrast to saving energy, does not mean abandoning a given energy service, but rather reducing energy use for a particular service.
